State of the Union:  Live Blogging

Tammy and Blackfoot will begin live blogging shortly.  Grab your favorite drink and your BINGO cards and get ready to settle in for two hours of our POTUS speaking at SOTU.  We hope to keep this fun!

Here we go, gang! "Gang" in the friendly family way, not in the Tren de Aragua way. President Trump and Mrs. Trump have left the White House and are on their way to the Capitol. I'm sure these past few days have been chock full of leafing through journals and diaries, and holding meetings with the inner circle for messaging strategies. Regardless of how much input his team gives him, we can always rely on our POTUS to not mince words, to lay the facts on the table and give us straight talk.

Recently saw Newsom talking about Trump being an actor, and that he's a different person in different situations. Once again, Gavin is projecting his weaknesses onto our feared leader. Trump is the same with everyone, whether it's a pope or a reformed criminal. Trump is the real deal, and that's what we appreciate about him. He might not be at liberty to give us the full facts at all times, but he will respectfully give us the truth as he knows it. Game on!

One of the distinct weaknesses for journalists is the propensity to formulate a response even as an individual is still speaking.  This detracts from needed moments of reflection - measuring the weight of each word - allowing thoughts to float freely within our consciousness for a moment.  As the President speaks we must allow for the full measure of his words,  the depth of his experience, and his thoughts to wash over us prior to constructing our narrative barricades.  Blackfoot and I have discussed our POTUS nearly every day since he entered the Oval Office for the second time.  What we write tonight, will be a synthesis and synopsis of the actions of the most powerful leader in the world.  Like  or dislike him - what he will share tonight is of great importance to the world - but more importantly, to the future of our Republic.

Here come da Justices. While everyone is admonishing Trump to hold his tongue and not call them out for their decision on IEEPA tariffs, I don't see an issue with making his points known on any given subject. Of course, it's a debate and not a brawl.

The best Cabinet of all time is now entering. Marco Rubio's speech in Munich is still fresh on everyone's minds. He set forward America's firm stance and hopes for a more cohesive and safer West. Cowboys and all. -Blackfoot.

First hit on the first Bingo card:  It is a red tie night.

It seems there are more empty seats than in the average east Texas Baptist Church on a Sunday morning.   I am never fond of petulant behavior, much less, cowardly actions.  The stronger statement of character is to show up and give honor where honor is due and respect where respect is due.  This has nothing to do with "who" occupies the Oval office; rather the need to uphold and cleave to a tradition which has served our nation well.  Perhaps in the future -  a "wait list" of guests who would love to fill those empty seats.  Every seat should have an occupant.

I'm damn glad he's wearing a red power tie. Peace through strength starts with strength. Don't fret about how many seats are empty, Tammy. This is a speech that will be picked apart by the Left and media hacks for the next week or so. It'll be a touchstone for the midterms. I'm happy to see Rep. Al Green from Texas ejected before he could grandstand through the entire evening. I couldn't see what his sign read, but maybe fake news will take up his cause.

"We're back!" When your president is a builder, you build. We're building back up from all of the losses the Auto-Pen signed away. There was a time our nation bemoaned selling out to offshoring jobs. In Trump's America, we're off assistance, off drugs, and on the job. January's jobs report was 130k new jobs. Unemployment sits a little high, at 4.3%, but we'll get there.

US Men's Hockey Team! USA! USA! -Those boys skated their hearts out, and their gold medals are only outshined by their patriotism. Well done, guys! -Blackfoot

Our U.S. Marshals were extremely busy early in 2026.  They assisted in the extradition of 92 drug cartel members from Mexico prior to the successful Jalisco raid which dropped "El Mencho" straight into Hell, where he belongs.   As a PACU (post anesthesia care unit) R.N.  I could knock you on your ass with 50 mcg of Fentanyl delivered intravenously.  And I could kill  you with 100 mcg. of Fentanyl.  So to hear that the Fentanyl supply into our nation is down 56 percent translates to a significant number of parents who will not place their own children into the ground.  Now, if we can only catch up with that evil bitch who is El Mencho's wife -  a willing accomplice and co-architect of a narco-terrorist organization which has plagued us for too long.

This is the part of the SotU where Trump shines. Yes, he undeniably likes when he gets accolades for his work, but he loves to shine his bright spotlight onto deserving people. It was always a highlight of his campaign rallies when he would bring some unprepared regular citizen on stage to share a story of life in the heartland.

Tonight a retired Korean War Navy fighter pilot, Royce Williams, turns 100 years old. He gets some esteemed jewelry in celebration of his lifelong commitment to our nation, a Medal of Honor.

Coast Guard Petty Officer Scott Ruskan saved 165 people, including 51 children from Camp Mystic, during the historic flooding in Texas. It was his first mission. He is being awarded a Legion of Merit.

Trump Accounts. Most Favored Nations. Healthcare reform. Trump Rx. IVF assistance. Can we finally scrap Obamacare and start over, please? If it needs prop ups and subsidies, it's a broken system. Trump is The People's President. And the people love him for it. -Blackfoot.

The Bingo cards are rapidly filling up:  migrant crime, no tax on tips, grocery prices, Coast Guard, the Supreme Court, veterans, etc.   As the POTUS discusses these issues tonight it is a reminder of the vast array of challenges which face our nation each day.  And our American President is acutely aware of the needs of the American People.   In calling the Somali population "Pirates" it seems a small indignity for them to bear considering the billions of dollars which they have stolen from the wallets of hard-working American taxpayers.  Rep.  Ilhan Omar manages the damsel-in-distress look.  But the fact is that she is also a Somali Pirate, with her non-existent vineyard and corrupt business practices which are currently being investigated by the DOJ.   She is representative of the Somali culture.  Corruption is the luggage they bring with them when they come to America.  It is time to close the borders to individuals from nations where corruption is part of the national backbone and accepted business practice.

There are a number of transgender young people like Sage who have spoken out publicly. With lawsuits being filed and won, there are less medical "professionals" who are performing surgeries on children. We have always held that adults are free to change their bodies in any way they like. Gender reassignment is not a tattoo. I'm hitting the back button, as I'm erasing an explicit account I've heard of medical complications. Our children can't make these life-altering decisions. They don't even know which color Play-Doh they want.

Erika Kirk. Her husband's killer is on trial now. She's still going through it, even though half the country is trying to forget what happened on September 10. The other families may not have gained that level of publicity, but their loved ones' lives are not worth less than Charlie's. Our neighbors are suffering and dying while misinformed/brainwashed nematodes are protesting ICE.

Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe. Very deserving of the Purple Heart. His mother never relented in her faith that he would survive. The love of a mother. - Spc. Sarah Beckstrom died on Thanksgiving Day at the age of 20. God rest her soul.

Marco is a rock star. Go back and watch his Munich speech and follow up interviews. In fact, watch his recent appearance before Congress. The cabinet has often said he's the funniest, he's also one of the brightest. He was the first to be chosen by Trump. He started his service by traveling throughout the southern hemisphere. Far more effective than Kamala's "root causes" tour. -Blackfoot

Dammit,  Blackfoot!  I suggested "1776" for the Bingo card.  Trump just announced the $1,776 dividend for our military members.  But to digress a bit, the award of a Purple Heart to Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe and a posthumous award handed to the parents of Spc. Sarah Beckstrom  reminds us of the sacrifice of our oath keepers.  So I would like to take a moment to remember my dear personal friend, U.S. Army Reserve Ambassador James McEachin, who received the Purple Heart for wounds received in the Korean Conflict.   He is one of the greatest Americans to ever grace the soil of our Republic.

The image of an injured helicopter pilot on a walker and in obvious pain is hard for me to bear. His uniform is not crisp in the truest sense of the word, because he has lost quite a bit of weight and his frame is undoubtedly less bulked up than it was prior to his injury.  Today - we honor his sacrifice.

But would we honor it - were it not for our POTUS who truly loves our troops?  President Biden scarcely mentioned them.  And to his eternal shame,  I am not sure Biden ever let the word "citizen" pass his lips.

The military is back!  Citizens are back!  America is back!  And this is healthy.

While the lefty loosies chant that Trump is "too male, too pale, too stale", our President just showed the world that he loves people from every walk of life, and judges them by the content of their character. He reveres the qualities our nation was founded on. We might never know how close we would have come to losing it all, had 2024 gone the other way. What would Harris-Walz have torn down first? -- Inside Trump's chest beats the heart of a true patriot. He's a lion-hearted warrior for Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. Can't wait to see what he does next. -Blackfoot

President Trump projected himself as the People's President. And as he stepped down from the podium the look was that of a youthful man fully capable of performing his duty.  It was undoubtedly refreshing  for him - the ability to speak for nearly two hours without constant interruptions.

The ladies who attempted to shout him down forget the words of Theodore Roosevelt, "Speak softly and carry a big stick."  Rep. Rashida Tlaib always looks like she can stick her fist in her mouth with ease:  (time stamp 2:39).  Or swallow a double quarter-pounder with cheese in one gulp.

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/democrats-ilhan-omar-rashida-tlaib-clash-trump-state-of-the-union-rcna259804

The Democratic ladies always produce a bit of mirth during what is meant to be a dignified communication to the Republic. They are ill-mannered and boorish.

But to end with a quote - and it is a beautiful one, filled with sentiment:

"When God needs a nation to work His miracles, He knows who to ask."

President Donald J Trump

May God continue to bless America.  And may His hand of protection remain on our thoroughly American President.  The two hours went by quickly.  And no, Blackfoot, the Bingo square for  "Tammy is Passed Out" was not filled.  Wide awake for the whole thing.  And my deepest gratitude is extended to you for live blogging alongside me tonight.
