Prayer in Time of Fear and Time of Travel
This was a completely unnecessary action, and most likely an action which was mounted with malicious intent:

There are Qur'anic ayat for prayer in time of fear. And there is an Ahadith which determines travel timeline for omitting a prayer or two.
There is absolutely no reason for Muslims to pray inside of airports, or for that matter, to vacate their seats on an aircraft to pray during a flight. Stay home. Or drive... across the ocean.
The incident above, was a provocation.
But, yes. I have entered Muslim homes where the adhan is offered by a digital muezzin to remind the family it is time for prayer. I am not uncomfortable with it because it is a private call to prayer. But it should not be offered individually in a cramped aircraft where those nearby have no way to distance themselves from the action. I would be scrambling over my seat - awaiting the "next" step - a finger on a button or a lit match on a shoe.
As a gracious hostess, I have offered water for ablution and pillow cases to be laid out on the floor for prayer when a Muslim family came to my home for dinner and a movie. They were my guests. But on an aircraft, your are not the host with a flight manifest of invitees. Deal with your own phobia, guys.
