Not on my Reading List
I was browsing literary selections at Ollie's today - and I use the term "literary" lightly - because it is a bit of a wicked pleasure to take note of what lands on their shelves. It reminds me that once again, I have averted the danger of having my brain cells sucked right out of my head.
Joel Osteen's platitudes written for individuals with fifth-grade reading skills are always available, as are the small-words-big-picture books. Of course, the genteel romance novels written for middle-aged women with cats who have not had a good screw with a prolonged meow are always available.
But what caught my gaze today was this selection:

It was quite delicious to see it offered for a mere $3.99... albeit it should have been pesos instead of dollars.
Here is the rub. MacTrump is dedicated "To all the people he afflicted, swindled, Misrepresented, conned and tyrannized"
I don't know about you. But I could do with a few less past tense, past participles.
I do a lot of reading! I belong to two library-discussion groups, but when certain types of books appear, I bow out; fantasies and pot boilers. I also despise cutesy books, such as the one mentioned in the body to today's post.
