Ariel Abergel: An Atomic Elbow Receives the Boot
There is the face that launched a thousand ships. And then there is the Instagram post that caused the killer bees to swarm.

This is not really about freedom of expression. It is about a breach of trust; a young adult too big for his britches; and a man who never developed a taste for chain of command and submission to authority.
Mr. Abergel never learned the phrase, "Permission to speak freely, Sir." He punched above his weight imagining that he could disparage seasoned leadership and get away with it. He tried to leverage authority which he did not have and forgot that positional authority is granted as delegated authority, and in and of itself does not denote a specific (earned) rank associated with the task.
When I was in Fleet Hospital Dallas, far be it from me to blast what we fondly called "The Dallas Mafia" - the three members from our unit who had been awarded an Admiral rank. But Abergel? He violated traditions of etiquette, was sent to drink from the Grog bowl, and swiftly dispatched.
America250 is not a military organization. But its leadership certainly understand military concepts of good order and discipline. Ariel Abergel forgot he is not the Commodore on the quarterdeck - who has earned his rank through experience and the maturity which comes with process. He quickly found out he was assailing the deckplate - the watertight structural integrity of the corporate ship which guards against racking forces such as his own; and he paid for his insolence.

There are clues that Abergel was an atomic elbow. And most likely, a behind-the-scenes pattern of insubordination was the causative reason for his dismissal. This was not only about a solitary unauthorized Instagram post.
No piping off the ship. But I do wish him "Fair winds and following seas", as he seeks new employment.
