Freedom of Expression and Employment

Words have weight.  Words carry power.  Our choice of words show the dimension of our character, our fortitude, our wisdom and life experience.

Words also make introduction to the fool.

I believe in freedom of expression because of the aforementioned.   We rise... or we fall on our own swords, based on what utterances proceed from our vocal cords.

You may say or write whatever you want. This freedom is guaranteed.

It is also guaranteed that you be judged by your fellow traveler.

This is called stewardship.

It is good that we speak.  Even better,  that the discerning sift our thoughts.

Regarding employment, this vast freedom is "in context".

If what you speak or write causes morale problems in your place of employment; embarrassment to your leadership; brand desecration; or loss of confidence in your ability to lead - you will be fired.

You should be fired.

Freedom of expression does not derogate your duty toward your employer as part of the mosaic of the public face of the organization.

The next post will be titled, "Charlie Kirk's Travels".

Smiling,

Tammy Swofford
