Memo Released Regarding Al Qaeda
The United States National Counterterrorism Center issued a warning regarding Al Qaeda on 19 September.

Did anyone else worry about an attack yesterday? I have written three posts related to the 21st September revolution in Yemen. Anniversary dates figure prominently in Islamic history. Think of the Battle of Karbala. This is what the Shia' rituals of Ashura commemorate.

I choose the above post - because Rune Agerhus has found his digital footprint scrubbed a bit. I first came across him several years ago when he posted a video which surpassed all known ethical boundaries for journalism. I sent a concern upstream. But he also produced some very high quality videos depicting the Yemeni struggle. He paired the images with Western classical music. It was powerful propaganda and very well done but I can no longer locate them.
When we think of Al Qaeda or AQAP we generally orient to "the usual suspects" - images of the men who brought down the Twin Towers... or the images of the attackers who brought London to her knees on July 7, 2005.
But we forget about Samantha Lewthwaite (the White Widow). We forget about Cat Stevens, who after converting to Islam was in agreement that Salman Rushdie should be killed, based on a fatwa issued by Grand Ayatollah Khomeini on 14 February 1989. That fatwa caught up with Mr. Rushdie in terrible fashion on August 12, 2022. I have "The Satanic Verses" in my personal library. Should I discard the selection?
Islamic doctrine states that all were born Muslim, but were corrupted by their parents or by political constructs adversarial to Islam. So when a non-Muslim speaks the Shahadah, they are a "revert" to Islam. They have returned to the Ummah.
Based on my perceptions, I believe reverts are more easily cultivated for acts of terror. They can embrace orthodoxy, code of conduct, and doctrines more closely than some Muslims who choose to modernize and moderate their opinions.
These are just my evening thoughts. And a film recommendation:
