Saving the Wolf

"He who saves the wolf kills the sheep.  He who sets the vulture's wing, is also responsible for it's talons."  Victor Hugo

I hate to be the bearer of bad news.  But then again, I have never been popular.

The Gaza deal was not a complete victory.  It is ludicrous to frame it in any such light. Simply put,  it was a negotiation declared to be a victory.  Tearing out the tap root of terrorism is virtually an impossibility because it entrenched deeply into the ground of the seventh century.  Every act of Islamic terrorism since that time is just a new branch on the family tree.  President Trump pruned a branch, and delivered a basket of peaches to media.

It is a reverie - almost like the experience with Theta spindles in a sleep cycle - to consider what happened a couple of weeks ago.   We floated through our POTUS visit to the Knesset.  I actually enjoyed the experience. I did have the sensation of floating, when listening to the speakers.  But I know the reverie will dissipate.  You cannot build on top of what has not been thoroughly  destroyed.

Can we stomach the truth?  You cannot shake hands with men who cannot be trusted to keep their word.  You cannot rely on men whose singular mission is to create enough carnage to destroy the state of Israel. The dagger remains in the other hand.

We also forget an important dynamic.  Democracy must be preceded by stability.  We get it backward. Investment doesn't bring stability.  Stability brings investment.  President Nayib Bukele shows how it is done.  First you remove the criminals.  You do not free them.  You do not set their wings.

What we just experienced is political sorcery.

We do not discuss in polite company that our diplomats fled Kabul and Khartoum with the clothes on their backs.  We do not discuss in polite company, the poor investments made within these two volatile, unstable nations.  We certainly do not want to remember Benghazi, and Ambassador Christopher Stevens being dragged down the street. And you will never fully know what was done to him.... So it is - we leave behind the mausoleums (abandoned embassies) of our "faith".   Our "faith"  that the Islamist thinks like the Western man.  The "faith" that goodwill prevails.  Nah.  This is just a fall back position.

Yes, Israel is stable and is also an economic powerhouse.  But Gaza - still has her branch.  We have saved the wolf and fixed the wing.
