Trump's Nobel Peace Prize: Make it a "Bronze"
I will post a blog here later today. I did cast my vote for Donald J Trump last year. But I also have a wicked sense of humor, and remain pragmatic regarding politics. The state of the Union is strong, and I am not moved by political theater. So strap in for the ride! This will be fun!

O.K. Let's do this!
The White House, in anticipation of a phone call from Oslo, Norway, was dealt (instead) with a public humiliation. Ending "eight wars" was no match for the in-the-trenches fighting spirit of Maria Corina Machado.
The White House has a formidable negotiation team lead by Steve Witkoff. A few cobblestone conflicts have been semi-resolved. Cambodia and Thailand declared a ceasefire almost as soon as the "war" started. It lasted about as long as the leftover turkey on Thanksgiving. Anything coming out of Africa is signed with disappearing ink. Armenia and Azerbaijan? They think Trump is the goose that laid the golden egg. India and Pakistan? The usual crap related to Kashmir - an eternal political cesspool. Israel and Gaza? Take a wait-and-see attitude for this one. Someone will fuck it up.

Meanwhile, Russia will move a bit into hibernation for the winter and the POTUS will morph it into a win... a weakening of Putin's resolve, or some such nonsense.
President Trump is like the four year old caught with his hand in the cookie jar. The wise mother tells him it is too close to dinner time to enjoy a tasty little snack. And just like that four year old, Trump is all about self-gratification.
It is painful to watch the Cabinet meetings. The members line up like Indian coolies, except they lack the head gear. Heaping profuse praise on the "greater" - I visualize a swaying bow. I swear that if I hear the phrase, "I would like to thank the President" one more time I am going to need chemical intervention.
I would love to hear Pete Hegseth merely announce, "I am the Secretary of War and your worst nightmare is seated in this chair." Or wouldn't it be fun to have Bobby Kennedy announce, "Hold my beer! Guess what I just did? Dr. Fauci was bent over his lab counter and given a triple dose of the latest COVID vaccine."
So this brings me to the famous story of Prophet Muhammad and the white ants. The story has been modernized to read "termites". But here basic bones of the story: the white ants ate all of the words on a parchment except for the words, "In the Name of Allah" This story is a correllary to the history of Muhammad destroying 360 gods within and surrounding al-Ka'bah.

Here is the deal. We have freedom of religion because it promotes social cohesion. If Allah - or for that matter - Jesus Christ, were the only acknowledged God - the zealots on either side would beat the rest of us to death. There should always be a degree of uncertainty with our faith. Neither should everything be "In the Name of Trump". That doesn't work for most of us.
We are also a land of many voices. And when voices rush like mighty waters they serve as a deterrent against the one, singular, powerful voice. Donald J Trump doesn't just speak. His voice booms. So let the waters continue to rush.
We are also a Republic with representatives elected from among us. This guards against the rise of a political Phoenix.
President Trump is uniquely qualified and gifted on the international stage. But like the wise mother, the Nobel Committee decided that it was not the appropriate moment for Donald J Trump to grab that cookie. The cookie went to Maria Corina Machado, a woman in the trenches with the fiery spirit, working toward peace in a nation which desperately needs her voice. I am glad his hand was slapped. Perhaps now he will not be so quick to presume that this year is his to receive the award. It could come at a later date. But for now - may there be quiet reflection within the White House and a step back from a few additional cookie jars of choice.
