Milo Sedarat:  The Boy Next Door

He grew up in Montclair, a township in Essex County.  The township has  an enviable median household income approximately 25 percent greater than the rest of the state of New Jersey. He attended high school in a beautiful building which gives echo to a rich history and was a member of his high school varsity wrestling team.  His father is an Iranian-American college professor with a love of poetry.

At nineteen years of age, Milo Ali Sedarat has an established social media presence and is the founder of Cordillera LLC.   He is just the boy next door - until it is discovered that his real passion is to execute an attack similar to the one mounted in Paris in 2015 - but with a focus on LGBTQ bars like the Pulse Nightclub attack in Orlando, Florida. Forty-nine people lost their lives and 58 were injured in the attack on the club.

He is the boy next door:

What chills me the most is how this young man  receives signal from the November 2015 Paris attack.  The re-imagining of a new Bataclan Theater attack, where 90 people were murdered within the first twenty minute and many others survived horrific injuries, seems to leave no imprint of horror on his conscience. In fact, it fascinates him.  Some inside the theater suffered the worst of fates. They were  mutilated and then killed.  Death was not swift but it was sure for the man who had his testicles cut off and shoved into his mouth before he died.

This boy-next-door is a stone-cold killer.   And we are told he is part of a larger network. I have to wonder where their Gregor Mendel resides and how many pea plants he has already cross-fertilized for an abundant crop.

As a Christian, I take note of this thought:

"Because that when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened."  Romans 1:22 (KJV)

"... neither were thankful..."

Why the ingratitude within the heart of Milo Sedarat?  Why such a lack of thankfulness for the American experience,  his childhood, his varsity wrestling team members and coaches,  the fact that while he was "straight" his neighbor might color outside of the lines but would never consider harming him?  What terrible ingratitude for what America has to offer in goodness, opportunity, and also needed challenges?  What lack of thankfulness for our traditions both serious and fun, like Halloween.  Ungrateful for America.  And this lack of thankfulness was steadily nourished and became hatred.

Hatred always seeks an object. That object, is America.  And for those who do not embrace this place which I have always called Blessing, a curse settles into the soil of our land.
