Propagandists Impersonating Journalists

Under Article 106 of the UCMJ (Uniform Code of Military Justice) a service member will be prosecuted if they willfully or wrongfully impersonate an officer.

Unfortunately, journalism has no such corpus juris - nor an Article 106 to shut down the ambitions of propagandists who impersonate journalists.

A quick daily scan of the news for popular consumption causes me to suspect that construction of narratives and instruction in character assassination are now part of the standard curriculum within our schools of journalism. The practice is now so brazen and prolific  that the news as reported,  can no longer be trusted.

Perhaps it is really more simple.  Journalists, like politicians, are attracted to their vocation because they share sociopathic tendencies.  Politicians lie to us.  And then the journalists lie to us about the politicians.   Maybe they deserve each other.   But the profound lack of conscience by the leadership of the BBC takes psychiatric illness to a whole new level of play within the ranks of journalism.

As a journalist, I have been charmed by a few sociopaths.  This is the nature of the business. But as a matter of ethics, I have done my best to shy away from character assassination of those who have entered confidential agreements with me regarding their private conversations.  The one who tells the story is spared the notoriety of the story.  It would seem counter-intuitive for it to be otherwise.  Why burn a bridge?  And it is the aforementioned quality, which makes me fairly good as a journalist;  but a damn bad journalist if I share the stories which should never be told.

I find it incredibly dishonorable that editors and broadcast journalists at BBC would choose character assassination as their best selling point.  What was done to President Trump was despicable.  And they chose a target whom they had possibly never met, nor shared a coffee or a meal with; nor received an invitation to join him on Air Force One.   This is what makes their digital manipulation of Trump's January 6th speech such a travesty.  Having never breathed the air in the same room with him, they chose to unload a pile of manure on their unsuspecting public. The stench is acrid.  It burns my nostrils.

There is only one question to be asked.  Why do propagandists continue to receive funding?
