Rahmanullah Lakanwal: Deconstructing the Narrative
There is always a narrative attached to Islamic terror attacks on Western soil.
Pick one: drugs... mental health problems... history of run-ins with the law... asylum application turned down. What you are not allowed as an option is one of Islamic terrorism.
Here is the latest narrative regarding a man who shouted out the takbir as he murdered his victims.
"When he saw blood, bodies, and the wounded, he could not tolerate it...."

What he could tolerate was shooting a twenty year old female soldier in the chest and then using her own weapon to shoot her in the head.
Specialist Sarah Beckstrom's father is now seated at her bedside holding her hand so that she will not die alone. It is only a matter of time. It will probably be soon.
Swofford doesn't do narratives.
Our soldiers deploy abroad as a shield for us and conversely as a magnet to draw the terrorism away from us.
Yesterday, the shield became a magnet on sovereign soil. And if they are not safe, neither are we safe.
Here is the truth:
Rahmanullah Lakanwal did this for his god. He declared the greatness of his god as he ambushed the innocent.
Unfortunately, his wife and five sons will need to be sent back to Afghanistan. The odds are pretty good that one of the five children will repeat the actions of the father. We cannot afford to let this happen. We cannot gamble with the lives of American citizens. Let the family be quickly returned to Afghanistan. The sins of the father are indeed now visited upon his children.

Sarah Beckstrom has died from her injuries. Please pray for her family. They have spent 24 hours in the presence of a daughter with significant and horrifyingly real traumatic injuries. These are memories which will haunt their souls for the remainder of their lives. It is not just about the sensory overload experienced in an intensive care environment; not just about the alarms... tubes... ventilator... blood administration.... and round-the-clock interface with a trauma care team at the bedside. It is about how a projectile entering the cranium can disfigure facial features and how a projectile entering the chest cavity can ravage the feminine form.
May we not so easily dismiss why this occurred, and may our prayers be extended toward the parents for future sanity and mental equilibrium. It is a platitude to say to people, "God will not give you more than you can bear." There are things in life which are utterly unbearable and indescribable regarding the human capacity for grief. Words will not touch their grief. There are no words in the English language to adequately address evil. But it is the job of law enforcement to deal with and confront evil.
