As our best (sigh) Western think tanks continue to relegate Jihad to a side-show, and anti-semitism to a by-product status due to the creation of the State of Israel - we continue to hamstring our ability to build conceptual arches which will quarantine certain beliefs to a Middle Earth status.
Islam is not a substrate. It is a sub-created world which does not reflect the values of Enlightenment. The linguistics, culture, and beliefs are anchored in seventh century kalam and the Muhaddithun are central to an understanding of how Islam establishes para-parliamentary tentacles of government across the West. It also imprints across Western institutions and vital national interests. But the imprint is initially so light, that it is scarcely noticed.
The religion of the state IS the state of the religion within the State. The aforementioned perfectly describes Iran. This is not a handshake. It is a grip. But what might begin as a light handshake with the West progresses to the grip. It must - because it knows nothing else. It does not know how to assimilate... compromise... adjust.

I became an optometrist on 9/11. I took my oath of office from the wall of my great room and read it again. And then I swore on oath - that I would learn to recognize the flicker in the eye of the snake. Three years of research and contemplation were followed by two decades of entrance into the Intellectual Battlespace of Al-Qaeda, the Muslim Brotherhood, the Grand Ayatollah chain of command, and most importantly, the Sufi community. These communities are not easy to penetrate. Signals intelligence during networking journalism conversations have served me well. I have moved from dining-to-dangerous-conversations in a matter of days. It is all about recognizing the signals.
But it must be mentioned: not all share my enthusiasm. After 9/11 I submitted an article titled, "Islam as Government" to the magazine Foreign Affairs. I received a rejection from the deputy editor who opined that it was hoped that "under the current conditions" they found my writing unacceptable. Truth vs narrative. Truth was subjugated. So let me be unacceptable now as we deal with the lengthening shadow of Islam across the West. Truth is important and it is vital to the survival of our own anchors of civilization.
Islam is a government. Islam is a government with adherents religiously tethered to Islam. Part of the governance model involves how a nascent 7th century government viewed the Jewish people. What were tribal animosities against the Jewish populations then are the same tribal animosities against a modern Israeli state today. This is the government of Allah at work.
Primary source documentation of anti- Semitism will be placed on the page at a later date. "We" did it to "Ourselves". There have been no demands made for registration with FARA by some of our university chairs of Islamic Studies, because indeed, they function in proxy manner against American values. What about the academic staff acceptance of generous sabbaticals to visit the Gulf States? We have harmed our exceptional way of life by not engaging more careful stewardship against foreign interests managing operational platforms within our educational campus. America should never be for sale. And our universities should never be placed on the auction block, enslaved to the ideology of the highest bidder. Money talks. Shit walks. And we have allowed this shit to walk right into our classrooms.

I once had a phone call from a Pakistani nuclear science professor. He recognized that baby tigers grow up to be adult tigers. We have fed the baby and must now deal with the adult tiger roaming inside America's institutions.
