Lt Gov Micah Beckwith: Golden Ticket


Christianity is a golden ticket in what is a deliciously exciting MAGA world.  Micah Beckwith had his golden ticket and it opened  doors within the corridors of power.    But the chocolate is beginning to melt.   And Indiana's  Lieutenant Governor is just the latest politician to be caught up in events within-his-control.    

Beckwith is the campus pastor for Life Church in Noblesville, Indiana.  These various campus' are about to experience the Robert Morris effect.  

Mr. Morris, was the Southlake, Tx. executive pastor who had an attraction to a 12 year old girl when he was a young married adult. His first assault of this child was on Christmas Day. His crime was known, and it was covered up by church leadership. He went on to superstardom in evangelical Christian circles and developed what he called DNA for mega churches.  He and Joel Osteen (in Houston) were considered the godfathers of the mega-church movement in this region.  Morris is now in jail - where he belongs.  And his Gateway Church brand is struggling with about a forty percent decrease in weekly tithes and offerings.  Wolves in sheep's clothing are eventually exposed; but it takes far too long.

Lt. Gov. Beckwith is the campus pastor for one of several "Life Church" managed by lead pastor, Nathan Peternel.  In the mega-church world, the campus pastor designation is a soft-landing position which allows the lead pastor to spend his time seeking God... at the golf course, watch porn at his desk, or maybe just jet off to the latest church conference for men where he tells the men that Jesus loves them and they have a great destiny. 

Monday morning, at least one of these men is listening to his wife yell at him to take the trash out to the curb as he saddles up in the Mrs. Baird's bread truck to make his morning delivery.  But he has a destiny!  He is going to deliver those thousands of loaves of bread!  

The lead pastor, having already deposited a $5,000 honorarium into his bank account, and having sold a few books filled with platitudes,  is chugging a ten dollar cup of coffee as he awaits his commute home to his local church - otherwise known as "The Promised Land".  Unfortunately, I have taken note that sociopaths are drawn to "ministry" as a means of developing a wealth portfolio. These churches can be personal ATM for the pastor and his staff buddies.

Lieutenant Governor Micah Beckwith - is the familiar face at the Noblesville campus. (He does not receive a salary.)  Lead pastor Nathan Peternel is something entirely different; but not so different, as the reports of pastors behaving badly continue to make weekly headlines.

Now Nathan Peternel is not responsible for his son's pedophilia sex crimes.  But collapsed into the story,  the news that Jonathan Peternel  had a rather large collection of sex tapes depicting the Reverend and the Missus doing... Shhh!   And the news leaks out that righteous Nate loves to counsel minors who are having sex and insists  the randy kids share every single detail of their sin... so, that he can (pick one) 1. pray  2. discern the will of the Lord  3. try something new?   Over several years, his church leadership  has ignored the concerns of their members and now the house which is built on sand is about to be swept away.

Pastor Beckwith - for his part - shares a podcast with Pastor Peternel, "Jesus, Sex, and Politics".  So it seems the church is not built on a firm foundation, but it does resemble a hen house with a couple of foxes.

Erin Sheridan, a former senior advisor to Lt. Gov. Beckwith had plenty to say.  Let me merely state that staffers viewing an AI-generated image of the wife of a Congressman singing "topless" should require the services of a disinterested, professional auditor; not Mr. Beckwith scrolling through a couple of phones and accusing Erin Sheridan of dishonesty. There are  men and women in our government who appear to be solid Christians, faithful to the tenets of Jesus Christ. I appreciate their responsibility and the manner in which they represent us.  But in a MAGA world, "Christianity" is the golden ticket.  

Vote - with a view toward each individual's competence and capabilities to govern.  And should the individual claim to be a Christian - give their life a good, hard look.  The hood may be shiny.  Under the hood, a rusty engine.

Charlie Kirk Memorial: Live Blog: The Largest Church Service in Human History

Live Blogging:  Charlie Kirk Memorial Blackfoot is comfortably snoozing in a different time zone.  So I will go ahead and start the post.  Undoubtedly, when I return to the desktop, Blackfoot will have added a few thoughts and I will enter the arena again.
