Yemen
When you are slaying dragons which do not exist, chained to a mythology which persists and doomed by an eschatology which should be allotted to the mists of time, you are a nation in need of cultural Renaissance. On the one hand, Muslims are told that in time of distress, to seek refuge in Yemen. But then there is the pesky (other little) issue of Dajjal.
Start at the thirty second time stamp.

Dajjal is al-ghaib, an unknown/hidden evil. And were I to bore you further, I would mention that the Jinn retain their headquarters on the sea; so it is very possible that Dajjal is on that very island which Yemen lays claim to as part of its nautical territorial boundary. smile
But Yemen is struggling. And the struggle involves walking away from myth and embracing reality. Millions of Muslims across the globe wrestle with the aforementioned - but these issues are acutely and sentimentally felt within the very fiber of what it means to be a Yemeni.
The sunnah below, resides within one of my selections on Islamic jurisprudence.

It was Muadh ibn Jabal who was initially dispatched to Yemen as a judge. He was chosen - not for any particular administrative ability - rather, for his basic understanding of a nascent and expanding body of Islamic jurisprudence. This jurisprudence, is based on the Qur'an and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad. And if you are a Yemeni moving to Detroit, you will be aware of the Masjid Muadh ibn Jabal on the outskirts of Hamtramck, which is a traditional Polish working class community. You are - as are a majority of Muslims - still quick-sanded into the seventh century. We scarcely understand, what it means to be a Muslim. And the IB (intellectual battlespace) of the Yemeni population is even less understood by Western analysts.
Surrounded by smaller truths and insulated by greater lies, the Yemeni people are in need of redemption. How that can be accomplished, I am not quite sure. But the quest begins with education; with an introduction to universal values which serve modernity well. I will be examining the tripwires in coming weeks. A primary one is Israel. It is not so much the issue that Israel exists - rather that Israel should cease to exist.
