The String


Alice, Texas is famous for the BOX 13 scandal which placed Lyndon B. Johnson in the U.S. Senate.  

But are you aware of "the string"?  

According to my husband's grandfather, an educated Texas rancher and man well-acquainted with the muddy waters of politics in our state, many functionally illiterate voters showed up to cast their ballot for Lyndon B Johnson as president armed with a string.  That string, had been cut to the exact length needed to pencil in the vote for LBJ when Republican Barry Goldwater was his opponent.  Because of a lowly string, we  ended up with one of the most colorful, blackmailing, and corrupt American presidents in modern history.

There has always been the issue of "the string" in most of our presidential elections; albeit, it is possible that Ronald Reagan was one of the few who didn't need a string.

Our current POTUS? He has a stringed banjo.  And while it is playing  "Deliverance" for Venezuela,  our allies should firmly resist the "Deliverance" of Greenland.  This level of international bullying must stop. And the international community should rally behind Greenland.  It is distasteful and distinctly against our American values that our President should seek to snatch Greenland under false pretext.  This "shining city on a hill" must never be reduced to a blow torch  used against our friends.

Charlie Kirk Memorial: Live Blog: The Largest Church Service in Human History

Live Blogging:  Charlie Kirk Memorial Blackfoot is comfortably snoozing in a different time zone.  So I will go ahead and start the post.  Undoubtedly, when I return to the desktop, Blackfoot will have added a few thoughts and I will enter the arena again. Security.  The word floated across my consciousness several times yesterday.  The perimeter of two stadiums and parking lots must be secured for the Charlie Kirk Memorial.  Within full envelope surveillance are tricks of the trade which most of us are unaware of - in blissful manner.
