Winter
Internet outages are occurring in my city. If I do not post anything during a 48-72 hour window there will most likely be greater pressing issues related to our strengthening winter storm. The storm in 2021 plunged our home into darkness. At night, the temperature inside our walls was 39 degrees. A very unpleasant experience, but having a gas range allowed for continued food preparation and... coffee!
Texans have not forgotten (nor forgiven) the actions of Senator Ted Cruz (February 2021) when he boarded a flight with his family to vacation in Cancun while elderly perished inside their homes. Did I mention that we have not forgiven him?

As winter settles in allow me an indulgence.
Below, are two favorite readings from the book of Job. The first one is in Job chapter 37; and more specifically, verses 5-7. We may cease from all labor soon. Roads will be impassable by tonight. But this does allow for time for reflection and needed rest for our workforce.

The second passage is about horses and their temperament. I have only mounted a horse once for a short ride across farmland in Tennessee. But I love the imagery in this passage.
As winter momentarily confronts our aspirations, my thought turn to our POTUS. Donald J Trump is no beetle. But if Franz Kafka were still with us, Trump would present as a horse. As the nostrils flare, and there is a bit of a gallop toward Iran, prayers are offered for our troops stationed across the globe. May all return safely to their families.
