Iran:  That of Which we are Unaware

We are abundantly aware of our assets and capabilities. Somewhat aware of Iran's capabilities.  But the concern is that of which we are unaware.  We really don't know - not in the truest sense of the word, what the Grand Ayatollah has up that sleeve.  And while we might show off our assets, Tehran might simply shed a skin.   What we know is never as fascinating a thought as imagining - and breaking out into a sweat - over what we don't know.

There is a lot of noise.  Disinformation and misinformation.  The Serbian president Aleksandar Vucic boldly proclaims the U.S. will attack Iran within 48 hours.  And yet - the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group has placed a 1,000 km distance between itself and imminent danger, having returned to the Indian Ocean.

The document above seems a bit of a sterile product.  Because on the other side of the house - the House of Ali - perhaps we are unaware of chemical... biological... nuclear capabilities.   Unaware... of research centers and storage facilities beyond the territorial boundaries of Iran or how far along  the programs and what are their capabilities. As a journalist, I sent one such concern upstream to AFRICOM years ago.  Everyone knows my standard.  You can talk shit and you can share shit. But if it involves national security, I am no longer the journalist.  I am the oath keeper.

The members of the Iranian Parliament all donned the uniform of the IRGC today in a show of solidarity.  To the last man, the Shi'a will fight.  Karbala is in their veins.  We can only hope that fight, does not end up on U.S. soil with an act of asymmetrical warfare.  And let's hope that the skin shed does not reveal a red-to-yellow threat.

Should we proceed - and it is not my call to make - Tehran will  respond to the threat to their sovereignty and survival in fine fashion.  Hopefully, it fizzles instead of sizzles.

Wisdom required.
