Sexual Predators


District Court Judge Linda Marquis  reminds us that many of our courts are populated by accomplished jurists who recognize that sexual assault can produce life-long consequences; hence the need for appropriate sentencing guidelines.  It is completely appropriate that Vaughn Griffith be charged as an adult.

When a fourteen year old male records the sodomy, instrumentation by force, and introduction of whatever-is-on-hand lubricants to the rectum,  he is already a sexual predator.  When he laughs at the assault, he exhibits sadistic qualities.  And when this same 14 year old male saves the video to his cell phone memory,  there is a lust which is not yet satiated. The urge is immature and growing. He has an appetite for sexual abuse.

The video is the outward manifestation of a depraved mind.  This is not about normal adolescent rough housing nor boys squaring off as they learn how to be men.  If you stick a flute up a rectum you are  risking perforation.  And when you then threaten to cut off  another teen's penis if he resists a gang rape, you have assaulted him again. Thank God, there was no follow through with battery.  

Yes.  The accused must be removed from society for the safety of society.  He should be tried as an adult. This sexual crime is possibly not the first, for the accused.  But society must be assured that it is the last.

Live Blogging:  Charlie Kirk Memorial Blackfoot is comfortably snoozing in a different time zone.  So I will go ahead and start the post.  Undoubtedly, when I return to the desktop, Blackfoot will have added a few thoughts and I will enter the arena again.
