President Trump's Audacity of Hope

Asking for a helping hand to clean up the mess he created:

President Trump's grave miscalculation regarding Iran's tenacity and will to remain sovereign will be felt by his administration during the mid-term elections.  It is possible the Republicans will lose a majority in both houses of Congress.  There is a bad taste in the mouth regarding this cluster.

Iran - has made one overture which will not be recognized, nor likely considered by the current administration. It is a move on a simple checkerboard and not a chess board. But it is an important little red checker.  I am watching - to see if we move our checker.

* The red ring in the image above denotes that authority, strength, and chain of command remain intact in Iran.  Continued threats of bombing and boots on the ground will not faze the team in charge. They will merely crank up the heat on their end.  And I suppose when our own misery factor is high enough, we will return to the work of diplomacy.

I can only hope our POTUS is having a miserable weekend at Mar-a-Lago.   Iran has floated two images of  a female pilot who perished in the crash of the KC-135 refueling tanker in Iraq.  A beautiful woman.  And while I cannot vet this information, it remains undeniably true that six families are receiving that dreaded knock on the door and then left in solitude to absorb the shock.

But may God continue to protect our troops.  And may they return home safely.  We give of the best which our nation has to offer.  Really, we do.   But perhaps President Trump needs to reflect that the military is not his asset. He does not own it.  It is not real estate.  It is blood and treasure.  And as such,  it is the asset of our Republic.  To him,  belongs the duty of prudent stewardship.  This is his role.  He must both account for and bear the responsibility for each who return home draped with our colors.  The onus of his rank as our Commander-in-Chief must be born well and with dignity.  Lashing out that we will bomb the Hell out of Iran serves little purpose.  A modicum of humility seems appropriate.
