A Parental Guide to Running a War
It is a "We Against They" story which we still recount with glee and with ample humor. None of us can remember the infraction, but we remember the punishment. Whatever the event - there is a remembrance of all of us hiding behind the couch, our father asking for the culprit to reveal himself, and like a snarly pack of rats, none of us would admit to the crime. We would die together. It seemed fitting. Daddy pulled us out from behind the couch one-by-one and spanked us. Four of us took the punishment because not one of us would admit to being a ringleader or participant in what was the fun to be had each day under the roof of very practical parents.
With the current messiness with Iran the roles are actually reversed. The Pentagon is the petulant child. And the parents are NATO allies. Everybody is taking a whack at our ill-planned course of action. And our POTUS and Pentagon - who cannot produce a win out of thin air - are the carpet sharks biting the ankles of mature adults. The public ankle-biting needs to stop. It is... distasteful.

I am not exactly sure who lost their mind and shot off their mouth about the Falklands. But obviously, the Pentagon still has leaks and a small puddle emerges for public view. Don't you just hate emotional incontinence? I do.
Overall, news is just a rinse cycle from day to day and it is increasingly difficult for non-platformed journalists like myself; who would at least like a chance to ask question at a Pentagon press briefing. Since Team USA is not always transparent (on issues which do not effect national security), I check out Team Iran - which suffers from the same malady. But the unsubstantiated narrative coming from the White House seem to hint at an erosion of confidence between the IRGC and Mohammed Baqer-Qalibaf. The Iranian troll farms are insistent there are no internal divisions within their ranks or between their chain of command and Qalibaf. Sadly, because we have decimated the upper levels of management, there is a lack of understanding regarding the central politico-military actors who are determining Iran's course of action. We can't climb the trellis.

The Strait(of)Jacket appears as a Gordian knot... within a Gordian knot... within a Gordian knot. Or maybe I am just sensing that our policy overtures are being directed toward Russian Nesting Dolls. We solve one problem. The next problem makes a surprising appearance.
As always, may God continue to bless CENTCOM leadership and may our assets and human resources suffer no harm. My prayers today are extended to our Navy divers. I interfaced with that community when on orders to Guam.
