Athena Strand: Cruelty Inflicted on the Jury
Texans reacted strongly to the murder of Athena Strand. The demons spoke and the devil dined. And a small feminine body was tossed into the woods like ordinary trash.
Let this thought sink in. The jury will be forced to listen to the audio of the final moments of a young girl's life.

In Texas, the jury will not hesitate to sign off on the death writ for Tanner Horner. We do not care about the nature of evil. We know it when we see it. And only death releases the man from his demonic bondage.
What can present as a greater evil than the rape and strangulation death of Athena? The audio is not needed. Sufficient evidence has been shown. The DNA results stand as infallible witness to the crime. But it is a legal cruelty which would force the jury to stand as silent witness to a crime so reprehensible that each one of them would undoubtedly have given their life in exchange for the life of this small girl.
Allow one. Allow the selection of the one. And then let that one righteous man listen to the audio. He will lose sleep for the rest of his life. He will suffer PTSD. The court should compensate him. But do not allow the jury to undergo such intense personal punishment for the crime of another. It is unnecessary. And were I seated on the jury I would challenge the use of the audio for the sentencing phase of the demoniac. Allow him to be cast over the cliff with the swine. There is no salvation. None. Only death awaits the man. May it come swiftly on the heels of the verdict.
