"Why Now?"
Of all of the journalism questions: Who, What, When, Where, and Why - I have always considered "Why now?" as the most important piece of information for any story.

Why now? Why relieve of duty a four star General and member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff when the Pentagon is (supposedly) drawing down the troops and the war effort in 2-3 weeks?
Why could this action not be delayed for a few short days?
Why now? Was General Randy George a voice of dissent? Free society must have the occasional voice of dissent for the health of the nation. And especially within chain of command, a measured counterpoint must never be reduced to an act of mutiny. We are far removed from the days of our wooden sailing ships.
And in a world where oppositional truths exist (Iran must not be allowed to have a nuclear weapon v Iran will only use the weapon as a strategy of final resort) - "Why now?" remains the only question as to how this timeline against Iran opened; and perhaps, why the timeline of an officer's career has been suddenly "tombstoned."
Has the Pentagon become Sysiphus attempting to roll the boulder uphill with regard to our actions against Iran? Have we engaged our troops in a futile labor with no real hope of declaring a "victory" - except of the hollow-sounding kind?
I believe it is time for alternate viewpoints, dissenting voices. Not because any one voice is capable of rising above the cacophony of our nation's propensity to speak a bit too loudly; but rather, because a quiet voice of dissent might cause us to be still... listen to how the quietness speaks to us... to reflect - on our Republic and the military actions which are now rippling across the world in ways which we do not yet comprehend.
May God continue to Bless America, and may He protect our troops. And to General Randy George - fair winds and following seas, from this Navy gal.
