Adam Hamawy: Love or Desire?
Adam Hamawy. There really should be no place for him to represent the interests of our Republic. The acoustics are bad regarding the story. And the tiny tremors of this news reveal a different man than the one who presents to the voters.

Love or desire? Does he love America? Or does he desire it become an Islamic Caliphate - you know that unworkable form of governance which is pock-marked with a lack of critical elements for societal health and homeostasis? I believe he has desire. And while love is about emotion, desire travels along lanes of control. Islam - really is about totalitarian and autocratic control which rages against human liberty.
Frightening enough: Adam Hamawy worked for an Al Qaeda front. He knew. He knew what he was involved in - without doubt. Time and distance do not erase his history of support and activism for a terror network which did not care in the least when 200 individuals leapt to their deaths from the Twin Towers; a hate-hub which did not give it a second thought to kill men, women, and children; and a malignant human blight which thought it appropriate to leave staffers from the Pentagon to deal with their severe burns in the aftermath of the cluster.
A quick look back into my journalism past:
I have been seated across tables from individuals for whom I had a decent level of respect on an intellectual level, and certainly feelings of kindness regarding what it means to be an a Muslim in America. But I have also seen the aforementioned not only remain dried-eyed, but defiant when coaxing the topic of 9/11. Hardened features, when asking for their opinions. Unrelenting regarding the righteousness and piety of OBL. I have had a conversation with both a woman and an unrelated man who called Osama bin Laden a "freedom fighter" - even after 9/11.
Desire.
Ahhh. You love living in America and experiencing everything attached to the benefits of residing in our Republic.
But admit it. You do not have love. You have desire. There is a big difference. And I try to remember that small fact when assessing any Muslim who runs for office. It is important that we carefully consider this as an election issue, no differently than our preference for a Republican, Democratic, or any other candidate.
Do they love America? Or is it... desire.
I hope that Mr. Hamawy loses his election bid.
Or... is it desire? smile
