"China released footage of exercises by its navy and air force in which they engage a Dutch frigate near the Paracel Islands. This move by China and the release of the footage is a deliberate signal.

China is showing every NATO naval patrol and U.S. ally in the Indo-Pacific what capabilities it possesses. The Southern Theater Command of the Chinese military stated that the Dutch frigate HNLMS De Ruyter entered sovereign waters around the Xisha/Paracel Islands and repeatedly sent the frigate's helicopter into disputed airspace. In response, the People's Liberation Army also dispatched several destroyers and J-16 fighters to the area and warned that it conducted operations to drive away the frigate through electronic interference actions in electronic warfare. In fact, we are witnessing a serious shift from China, as this country tests the West's resolve with electronic warfare One of the key points in the released clips is the reference to targeted electronic interference against the sensors and communications of a NATO warship. China's modern naval doctrine indicates the existence of advanced AWACS, radar, and satellite coordination. Electronic warfare disrupts NATO's map and forces every Western navy to rethink how it projects power in disputed waters. You might wonder why the South China Sea matters. Please note that the Paracel Islands hold extremely high importance. China established actual control over these islands after a naval clash in 1974, drove out South Vietnamese forces, and consolidated its presence in the region. The South China Sea today holds immense overall value, especially with shipping routes, fishing grounds, and abundant hydrocarbon resources. China's stance here is strategic: bolstering its presence and forcing the West to decide whether it wants such far-from-home confrontations or not. As we predicted, after Iran's slap in the face to America in the recent war, other countries around the world have grown bolder than before."
