Syria: The Smaller Things
I have covered the genocidal tendencies of al-Julani - now reinvented as (self-appointed) President al-Sharaa at my other site.
Identifying as a Christian, Druze or Alawite is terrifying enough for the Syrian population. But being born a woman - is a distinct vulnerability. I have viewed videos of women being lined up like cattle and their images being taken with cell phones. There is money to be made with females sold into slavery.
The West whitewashes the atrocities. Our "Thoughtless Tanks" desire that we not think about these things. There are deals to be hatched. Who gives a rip that a terrorist has now re-invented himself by wearing London suits and footwear -and sporting an expensive timepiece on his arm? The Devil wears Prada.
Is Syria better off now than when President Bashar al Assad was president? Doubtful.

Why do I care about such things? I care - because I have counted Muslims as wonderful friends. And I care - because Islam needs modernization. It cannot happen if we just pat terrorists on the head and tell them to "be a good little boy, now."

The smaller things matter. Those things which will pass under the radar for most of us.
In April of 2025 this notice barely made a splash: A Supreme Fatawa Council was established. Oh goody! Another win for women!
Another small splash which should be a honking headline involves this image taken last month. Sheikh Issam al Buwaydhani arrived back in Syria
It was fairly common knowledge that Al Sharaa invited military terrorist flanks to be "integrated" into the regular standing army. His claim to fame? Jaysh al Islam:

(page 3 of report)
For the record - this is what a chlorine gas attack looks like through the eyes of a child:

This particular man - is bad news for Syria. But then again, is there really any good news for the Syrian population trapped by a toppling and a process which really did not involve them but which now imprisons them?
