Pastor Tony Spell:  Father of the Year

If a man threatens to rape your wife and grandchildren; threatens to follow through with killing them - will you pick up the Bible or a weapon?

I love tautological questions, don't you? smile

In Pastor Spell's case, he did both.  I have always called a gun the "Word of God" because it is about finality.  The pastor used what was available to him; his clenched fists and healthy masculinity.  Too bad he was unable to stand over the man and proclaim, "It is finished".  Because "it" should never be associated with the personal pronoun "he" and "it" deserved more than a beat down.

I believe we have fed our young men a lie.  There is no such thing as "toxic masculinity".  There is healthy masculinity which protects, nurtures, and provides for a family.  And then there are men who are intimidated regarding what the Creator provided them with to protect their families. There is healthy masculinity.  And then there is "it" - a violent adult male who threatens the rape and murder of your bloodline.  Don't blink. It might be too late.

I have taught my sons, "Swoffords don't take threats.  They deal with threats."  Pastor Spell stepped into the threat.  He is a healthy male.  My vote is for him.  Father of the Year.
