President Trump Gets it Right
Temporary Protected Status has proven to be one of the most flawed policies within our suite of immigration laws and allowances. It has brought tremendous harm to our Republic's taxpayers and stripped generational blessing from our families. And the not-so-inside joke that "temporary" generally becomes "permanent" is a truth which has not been adequately addressed until now.

Venezuela:
My heart breaks for Venezuela's citizens today. But we should not enact TPS for Venezuelans affected by the earthquakes. As it stands, there are now 600,000 Venezuelan citizens on U.S. soil with Temporary Protected Status. This is a greater number than the population of municipalities like Tucson... Baltimore... or Atlanta.
I believe the American taxpayer is better served when we offer services which allow citizens to harbor in place after natural disasters. But they will not harbor here. We will be generous. But that generosity will be allocated inside your borders and you will feel the impact from our assistance; while diminishing the economic impact on our working class.
We can send robust medical assistance. Fleet Hospital Dallas comes to mind. As a LCDR in FH Dallas, I can attest to the ability to get a field hospital up and running in less than ten days. I have been a part of this type of operation on more than one occasion. Did I mention it is a five hundred bed tent hospital with fully operational ICU, peri-op suites, pharmacy, radiology, etc? Drop those ISO containers with our hospital's physical assets, and we will get to work.

Roofs over heads? America can provide pallet shelters. Seattle is using them to house their homeless.

Nutrition?
Nobody does it better than Texans on Mission:
They can deliver 15,000 hot meals a day. They served on a very special mission recently, and I am unable to provide details because of security issues - but this is one of the best private-sector charitable organizations in the United States.
So we can send resources and personnel. But Venezuelan's will be staying in Venezuela. Ultimately, it is the responsibility of your government to meet your needs.
And it is also the responsibility of my government to meet our citizens needs. These needs are better addressed without immigration abuses.
May God continue to bless President Donald J Trump. The SCOTUS decision is just. And it will diminish the burden placed on America's taxpayers.
