President Trump's Sheep Herders
There is no greater political genius than that of President Trump with regard to Jesus' - Sheeple of His Pasture.
It kind of unfolds within the sheepfold like this: President Trump courts mega-church pastors. They receive the coveted invitations to the White House, and if they are blessed-beyond-measure, an invitation to Mar-a-Lago. Being sufficiently enthralled, they are reduced to sheep herders for future elections. They deliver the vote. Consistently.
A notable sheep herder was Pastor Robert Morris. God love him, he wrote books about "The Blessed Life". His wife wrote a book, "The Blessed Woman". Zzzz Gateway Church (Southlake, Texas) generated over $150 million dollars in annual revenue. Pastor Morris even managed to start one of his satellite churches in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Did he hear the call of God to ski? Nice little tax write-off for an expensive vacation? But he achieved the pinnacle of power when appointed to President Trump's Evangelical Executive Advisory Board and served on his faith advisory committee throughout his first term.
He was finally exposed for abusing a twelve year old girl and continuing to prey on her until she broke free four years later. These days - I think he kind of hides out at his ranch. But then again, he was an excellent sheep herder.

And then we have a rather minor player, elevated because of an article in "Rolling Stone". I actually heard him speak a few years ago. He informed the audience that he flew to Washington, D.C. to pray in front of the White House. Not enough of a following to merit attention from Team Trump.

My brother attends a mega church. The pastor recently informed his congregation that he had been invited to the White House to pray with President Trump. Wild clapping all around! And another sheep herder was born.
And now, we are subjected to the nonsense of Jackson Lahmeyer, who believes the anti-Christ will be Jewish. Gosh! I thought my mother-in-law was the anti-Christ because of how badly she treated me. But being the pastor of a mega church - he has Trump's endorsement.

Naturally - it is good to ignore the texts to a woman who is not his wife, because he is a champion of family and Conservative values. He is a MAGA Warrior! There is no way those texts are anything but a political hit job! Damn the deep state!
It gets worse of course. The texts tell a tale. Jackson Lahmeyer invited his love interest to a "late night" at his hotel to discuss his "campaign". Ahhh, yes! The very common "Campaign of the Pecker" which adulterous men hold in high regard....
And it gets worse. Lahmeyers wife - who is a co-pastor - calls the former Miss Oklahoma a "whore". Not the best choice of words coming from the mouth of a Christian; much less directed against another lady.

Here is the deal. I detest the sheep herding. But even more troubling is a trend I am following. Popular Evangelical pastors are suddenly hearing the call of God to enter politics. I suppose religious power is insufficient. They want the real thing: the power of the state. But then again - maybe they are just wolves in sheep's clothing.
As it stands right now, Mark Tedford is pulling ahead of Jackson Lahmeyer in the primary tonight.
Mark Tedford | 5,446 | 31.0% |
|---|---|---|
Jackson Lahmeyer | 4,885 | 27.8 |
Nathan Butterfield | 2,683 | 15.3 |
I sincerely hope that Jackson Lahmeyer loses his pride of place as a MAGA warrior and an Evangelical Sheep Herder, don't you?
As for me - nobody tells me how to vote! Not even my husband!
