Stephen Ogilvie: Let's Talk

Coming in as texts to my cell phone today:

"How many Muslims do you want to kill?'

"Possibly... law enforcement recognizes incitement."

"Sources could become defined."

Intimidation.  Against the journalist.

Yes, we must talk.

Surely the man who recently assisted his assailant move into his apartment; the man who put out the welcome mat,  deserves better. For his kindness, a brutal punishment.  He was an "unbeliever".

"They shall be punished in the life of this world, still more grievous is the punishment of the hereafter, and there is none to protect them from Allah."  Surah 13:34  (The Thunder)

Stephen  Ogilvie was punished in this world.  And a voice thundered on the streets of Belfast as a Believer tried his best to saw off his victim's head.

Stephen Ogilvie has lost his left eye, with damage to the right eye, deep slashes to his back and to his facial features.  Take a moment and look in the mirror.  Imagine it is you.

And the "nudge report" offered by the family has the fingerprint of government on it.  It is a really bad "Monty Python" sketch and the iconic punchline is that, "A nod is as good as a wink to a blind bat". This applies to the statement put out by Stephen Ogilvie's family.  The Belfast government continues to treat their citizens like blind bats regarding their treachery against their own.

Your confusion is dismissed.  Was this really a big deal?  And can we all just go home and forget about it?

Stephen Ogilvie deserved better.  From his government, prior to his assault.  And from his government, after his vicious assault.  His family certainly deserves better.  They have been forced to take on the guilt of their government's foolhardy policies while in full view of the horrific life-changing injuries to someone they love.  This is also cruel.

Let's talk.  Because Tammy Swofford does not take threats. She deals with threats.  And a threat to a journalist is also a threat against each one of you.

Update to post:  20:41

Graphic content.  My prayer is for the surgical team which had to patch him up.  They will be dealing with intense emotional distress.
