Syria: The Words of Ezekiel
Generally speaking, the greater world is reticent to intervene if a leader places a containment field around his borders regarding the violence within his borders. Only when that violence spills over - do the rest of us send up a squawk. Rwanda only became an issue for our SecState Madeleine Albright when corpses floated into Lake Victoria. I am not sure how this lady whom I admire was able to pull off a surprised look; but she managed it quite well. And suddenly, the U.N. postured with self-righteous indignation and the uprising from the Rwanda massacre received appropriate intervention. Years ago, I hosted a remarkable lady who remained safe, hidden in a closet for weeks during that bloody genocide. She later made her way to America to share her story.
There is no safety in Syria. And there are no closets which will not be searched in the current vendetta to remove any vestiges of support for the former Alawite president, and please lump Christians and others into that pot too. Actually, everyone is fair game for the military serving the needs of the self-appointed Syrian president. An integrated force of violent militia and former rebels does not a professional standing army make. And discipline alone - does not make an army professional. It just might make them ruthless. The men directing from behind the scenes are very disciplined regarding their genocidal tendencies.
And the president continues to hang with individuals such as this Saudi terrorist, a ruthless man who organized the suicide bombing operations for Jahbat al-Nusra. It does make me feel warm, though, that he has had a hand in liberating Syria. I guess one man's marauding massacre is another man's gain....

President al-Julani (I refuse to call him by his surname, which points back to prominent families in the Golan Heights who led revolts in the al-Zawiya region during the 1920's), is a walking disaster. And the words spoken by the Prophet Ezekiel are remembered:
"By the abundance of your trading, you became filled with violence within." Ezekiel 28:16
Tyranny cannot give birth to democracy. And I cannot prove it, but I believe that democracy requires three full generations to be established. So when the tyranny of al-Assad is followed by the tyranny of al-Julani, Syria does not stand a chance regarding societal homeostasis.
Failed states only require one element to survive: A leader with an iron grip over the treasury (Diwan) and the military. Syria - as a bloody splotch on a map will survive. But then again, an individual can survive for years in comatose state if given proper mechanical ventilatory support and nutrition. Nations generally do not cease to exist because they decline. They cease to exist because they do not develop properly by following democratic principles for management of the state. Syria - is all about being a land bridge... black market... human trafficking caravan... and a place where the resources which belong to the people will be siphoned off to the highest bidder. Everything is under the jurisdiction of the leader. He is an ordinary pimp.
To the north, Turkey survives just fine - albeit with occasional glitches. The Hashemite Kingdom enjoys a rather envious stability compared to her neighbors. Iraq is a bit of a "mini-me" of Syria. But Syria? The commerce and deal-making is abundant but the domestic product is state-mandated violence.
Syria has devolved from a place where initially, women and young ladies are kidnapped, photographed by their captors, and sold to the highest bidder. It is the usual miserable tale. Sold to the highest bidder... on to the next... until their worth is reduced to a pack of cigarettes.
Today - the market is for kidnapping of children who are then sold back to their frantic parents. A most recent example is a twelve year old son named Hamza. He was sent to sell wild herbs and never returned home. He disappeared on 4 June. His family has not received a ransom request yet. So it is possible he was worth more to a homosexual predator.
In Damascus, this shopkeeper was assassinated at his place of business. Because if you are an Alawite, your days are numbered.
Al Julani is very focused on his vendetta against the Alawites. Dr. Samaher Almousa and her husband were gunned down in Yemen. They had traveled legally after the fall of the Al Assad regime and were working for the betterment of the Yemeni people. The image of their death will not be shown on the blog. But I will report out that they died together. Side-by-side.
