Vice President J.D. Vance Flies to the Wrong Country


Order of operations is important.  And with Iran sending strong signal - not only with a powerful graphic - but with strong words, our Vice President should have headed to Israel first.  His leverage will be weakened in Switzerland because he cannot offer certain guarantees.


Years ago, I spoke to a group of Jewish businessmen and attorneys.  Afterward - a bit of private conversation with one of the men.  I have never forgotten what he said: "America is the leash on Israel, if the leash ever comes off...."

We released the leash after 7 October.  And Israel's dogs of war needed to be set free to track down not only the perpetrators but the network(s) behind the carnage. Israel still does war right. Kill them all, and let God sort it out. But that model coming off a quarterdeck has limited use against networks.  There are too many civilian casualties. Israel continues to blur the lines.

It is time for that leash to be re-attached.  Iran has made it clear. Bombing Lebanon is an attack on Iran.

It is not that Iran is too strong.  Suck in your breath.  It is that Netanyahu is stronger than Trump. Problematic, is that President Trump lost goodwill and consensus with NATO.  It will also take NATO's musculature to bring Israel to heel.

These are my evening thoughts.
