Improbable


Even as Qeshm Island continues to work to remove their citizens from the rubble of their homes,  it remains improbable that a solution is on the horizon for what President Trump was "itching" to start on 28 February.  Pulling the trigger, is always the easy part.  The pressure on the pull of a trigger can be nothing compared to the pressure of what follows such an action, the aftermath of the action.

Our decisions are now lethargic, based on the principle of uncertainty. We seem unsteady.   We expect Tehran to respond in one way.  Obviously, they did not read the play bill for what is beginning to look like an off-Broadway show.

Wisdom is not learned from memorization.  Nor is it gained from instruction.  

Instruction informs.  This is the nature of our war colleges.  But instruction is not wisdom's guide.

Wisdom makes room for disagreement; but is rarely found in a room with consensus.  The wisdom to not pursue this course of action with Iran was found with the disagreement in the room:  with caution offered from several reliable corners of government.  Don't do this.  Not now.  The disagreement, was the wisdom.

The Commander-in-Chief relied on hand-picked acolytes of consensus.

President Trump did not work through the dialectic properly - the necessary progress toward wisdom which can only be achieved with measured patience and due consideration.  It was impetuosity which  gave birth to the name of the thing:  Operation Epic Fury.
