Europe:  Genesis 25:23


Let's move into the prophetic.  Because the prophetic is nimble, counter-intuitive, and questions established norms.  And with the prophetic, the older is subject to the younger because the soul is meant to be subject to the fresh infusion of revelation from the Spirit of God.  My childhood and young adulthood were within the community of the prophets, otherwise known as the Charismatic Movement.  What cannot be captured - exists.  And what cannot be fathomed - is flawed.  But what is exists and cannot be fathomed finds resting place along the heights and crags of the mountains.  Not all are equipped to take the trek. I have trekked the lowest peak.

When I read the link below, Genesis 25:23 came to mind.

The Lord said to her, "Two nations are in your womb, and two peoples from you will be separated; one people will be stronger than the other, and the older will serve the younger."-  Genesis 25:23  NIV

Two nations were in the womb of civilization.  Two peoples were separated.  One remained Europe.  The other became America.  And it is now, the older begins to take heed to the actions of the younger.  The older crustacean manner of thought begins to watch the dynamic vitality of the younger.  And the younger generation have in view the "older" corrupt/criminal/calloused leadership of Europe and are taking note of the healthy policy initiatives of the separated Peoples known as Americans.  

To stay in character for this blog, our prophet is President Donald J Trump. He might not be Moses, but he is bellowing "Let my people go!" from the Egyptian pyramids of financial schemes enriching the few in the name of Pharaoh Asylum. Yep.  The younger are making their demands against the older across Europe; their imaginations fired by... America.

Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czechia, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia.

The older will serve the younger.

In the link above, the older seeks to scold the younger.  France'  Finance Minister Lescure - a rather dull fellow - has this to say: "... we face a major challenge in the face of a populist wave which is spreading around the world today and which we must resist."  

Poor man!  Does he not understand that Democracy is based on peacefully contained and well-managed populist movements which are generally not in need of a prophetic voice except when governance fails?  Here is a heuristic.  Prophetic voices gain credence only when governing bodies lose the confidence of the taxpaying citizens.  Stable, responsive, successful democracies have no need of a prophetic voice.

Geert Wilders became a prophetic voice for the Dutch when the concerns of the citizens were ignored by "the older".  The nation has need of him.  In the prophetic tradition, there is succinct monologue - or brief interactions of easily grasped dialogue - with an attentive audience.  Nothing ever progresses like Jonathan Edwards famous sermon, "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God", which was directed toward the individual soul. A bit too messy for my taste. But Geert Wilders voice has remained succinct and on target.

The prophetic which rises up against authoritative or faulty government is different.   God ordained that government and her institutions are good.  But when they fail, He will send a prophet.

The deep longing of citizens-failed-by-the-older drink deeply from these prophetic wells.  I had the privilege of being in the presence of Geert Wilders on 3 May 2015.  And then - we experienced an Islamist attack on the event.  I was a member of the press corps.  Not quite a "Charlie Hebdo" moment, but significant enough to sculpt my views.

Naturally, there are the false prophets too.  And America has no need for men such as Jake Lang - an agitation propagandist who has probably never stepped inside a Muslim home to enjoy their generosity and hospitality.  Why would they invite him?  His specialization is generalizations.  He is also a rather dull fellow.

But back to the actual history of the prophets in the Old Testament with a caveat that it is primarily a Judean document, because it was made up of messages directed toward Judah during the time of the Babylonian exile. These enduring themes allow for a glimpse of the political tension between governing authorities and the people of the day - and the prophets who served as poetic oracles of both history and future.

The Old Testament has prophets like Zephaniah, breathing the fire of judgment but then extending hope. He used a five-beat line of poetry which can be found in funeral dirges. (ginah)  And like more than one prophet, found himself in the cross-hairs of earthly authority and was killed. Truth is always the first casualty of political wars.

My favorite prophet is Micah, because of my love for this thought: "He hath shown thee oh man what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee?  But to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God."  Micah 6:8

So we have the rise of the prophets across Europe. Taking their signal from our American President.  Yes.  The substantial abuses which have warred against legal immigration have reached unsupportable levels regarding criminality. So  I continue to support strong Sovereign Rights Movements.  When the goals are achieved, and greater societal homeostasis prevails, the prophets will once again fade into the background.

It is simple enough.  Support your citizens.  Be kind to your citizens. Engage the primary duty of assuring least harm for the greater good of the citizens.  Cease the shredding of the Treaty of Westphalia.  And follow the lead of the younger. We are happy in America. We are happy that our POTUS has inclined his ear to our concerns.  There will be no unrest. There will be stability.

Here is my favorite prophetic voice from 2007.  And do remember what I stated at the beginning of this post:  Prophecy exists. Prophecy is flawed.  Because prophecy is "only in part".
