Oh, wait! Wrong "Paris". I mean Paris, Texas.

Paris, Texas endured a weekend of looting. Initially, nearby towns of Bonham, Blossom, Roxton, and Powderly responded with hastily assembled militias. Individuals from as far as the Red River also responded and America was on full display. I have never seen so many Ford trucks on the road with the American flags flying and gun racks mounted in the rear of the cabs.
At the completion of a forty-eight hour window the statistics are impressive. Texas has a strong Castle Doctrine. It appears none of the involved will be charged because there is no duty to retreat from your home, vehicle or place of employment in the face of violence.
In actuality, after about the first eight hours - the job of cleaning up the streets was left to the Texas State Troopers and local morgues from the Red River to Greenville. The statistics are sobering but stand as a reminder of our prior American Revolution. And it was with Constitutional fervor the streets of Paris, Texas rang out with the slogan, "Don't Tread on Me".
* It all started with the torching of First Baptist, Paris, Texas. In Texas, you can torch the Methodist church... the Church of Christ... the Whiskeypalian church. But don't touch our Baptist churches... or for that matter, attack a synagogue. We have weird Christians who imagine themselves part of some lost tribe of Israel. Either that, or they save for a lifetime to visit the Holy Land and buy trinkets.
So here are the statistics from the Battle of Paris!
Wounds in the buttocks from the cowards fleeing the gunfire: twelve
Loss of life: thirty-three violent offenders
It is the stuff of legend, of course. Sixty-five self-deputized Texans, all carrying the Word of God - you know that final arbiter of life on earth - stood their ground and quickly dispatched 2,000 vandalizing, war-whooping looters. Paris, Texas has cancelled elementary school so that children can busy themselves picking up the casings on the streets to make artwork next week. First Baptist is throwing a block party. And God Bless 'em - nobody makes a better mile-high-meringue lemon pie than Baptist women. Two blocks away, the Fire Department is throwing a great bar-b-cue with beef arriving by the truckloads from grateful ranchers.
The rumor that Rome, Texas was the next target has been quelled. Perhaps France and Italy need a few good Texans.
