Russia's Diplomacy Surge

Behind the scenes, the Trump administration placed a dimmer switch on the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.  The general public and our sentiment? No differently than we walk away from a football game that is only played in the middle of the field, the boredom factor has taken over.  Nobody likes a stalemate... a quagmire... nor a frozen conflict.

So now,  Russia's foreign ministry is casting a wide net and courting not only Africa, but the Bedouin states.

Just a day or so ago the Russian State University for the Humanities (Moscow) awarded an honorary doctorate to Sudan's Sovereignty Council President, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan.   It makes as much sense as awarding President Donald J Trump the Nobel Peace Prize - but then again - I like to remember that all man-created awards lie within the realm of dwarfed human imagination; and there is not a William Blake  among any of the awards spinners.  Metaphysical genius need not apply.  But General al-Burhan certainly looked regal in his cap and gown.  Zzzz

Meanwhile, Yuri Ushakov (presidential aide) opines that Russia will be involved in trilateral negotiations in Abu Dhabi, the composition of the delegation is yet to be firmed up, and to be clear, kiddies, there will be no participants from European interests as Russia and her new BFF's discuss Ukraine.

Of course, discussions will continue with the United States regarding lifting sanctions imposed on the RDIF (Russian Direct Investment Fund).  Time will tell how that situation will continue to play out.

Iran didn't provide a distraction.  Iran provided an opportunity for the 'Vlad. And he is seeking opportunities within stable regions and increased opportunities within volatile societal rims, such as Sudan.  Come to think of it - most of Africa resembles Middle Earth from "Lord of the Rings".  The kinetic and continuous violence is a reminder that a ban on migration from Sudan to the United States is a practical national security consideration.
