My strongest memories from this day:

The boot which smeared mud on the facial features of a deceased Israeli soldier.

Deceased females, prone and with their arms slung out; like broken dolls.

The Israeli soldier being pulled out of a tank.

A video which showed an individual crying for help after a grenade was thrown into a small enclosed space with multiple individuals who had sought refuge.  The facial features were peeled off the skull and what was left was a mouth crying for help.  I have never seen anything so hideous.

Young Jewish boys in their underwear and smeared with blood. They were seated at a table.  They had just witnessed the death of their parents. If I recall properly, one of the terrorists was casually drinking a bottle of water.

Terrorists walking though a compound which was eerily silent, the air punctuated with the takbir of the fighters.

I would have never read Alexander Solzhenitsyn's "Gulag Archipelago" if he had been assassinated for his political thoughts at thirty-one years of age. Winston Churchill would have never written "Hinge of Fate" (one of my favorite selections) had he been assassinated at thirty-one years of age. Ernest Hemingway was fifty-three years old when "The Old Man and the Sea" was published. Leon Uris was thirty-four years old when his novel "Exodus" was published. The average age of the delegates at the 1787 Constitutional Convention was forty-two.  Benjamin Franklin was 81 years of age at this time.
